Jungle Sports
As you know, students have been participating in Jungle Sports/ropes and rock climbing the last 2 days. Students have been well behaved and have had a terrific time! Jungle Sports will take place during the second half of our literacy block tomorrow (11:25-12:15) and from 9:25-10:15 on Friday.
The Launch of a new Unit
Students in both grade 6 and 7 started a brand new science unit. Grade 6's began their unit on flight by learning about how specific types of living things adapt to their environments by using flight as a tool to help them to survive.
Grade 7's had a chance to begin their unit on pure substances by conducting an experiment on the mass of various objects. The objective was to have them develop an understanding of how to use the triple-beam balance scales that they will be using to conduct other experiments throughout this unit.
EQAO Update- As most parent are aware of, EQAO testing will be taking place in May. While we have been completing tasks throughout the year that will help students be successful during EQAO all year, starting today all grade 6 students will be given time every week during our literacy block to complete EQAO sample questions under my guidance. Students will be required to complete at least 1 EQAO section or question per week. All sample questions I am using can be obtained straight from the EQAO website. If you wish to practice at home with your child, booklets and answer guides can be found at: http://www.eqao.com/en/assessments/junior-division/Pages/example-assessment-materials-2015.aspx
