Computer Programming with "Hour of Code"
Today in the library, students in our class had the opportunity in participating in an event known as "Hour of Code". This is a global event in which students from all over the world are introduced the idea of computer coding and computer science.
With the assistance of the amazing and resourceful Mr. Tamblyn, our class was introduced to concept of writing code using the "Java Script" format. Students were fortunate enough to be able create code/computer commands that made video game levels functional. The games they had the chance to create and alter included; Star Wars, Minecraft and Frozen.
Here is the link that will allow you to see what students had a chance of doing:
https://code.org/starwars.
Tomorrow, students will be consolidating their learning in literacy by creating their very first formal Blog post.
The Blog post will answer the following questions:
1) A recount of yesterday's task (who, what, when, where, why and how)
2) What did you enjoy about the Coding activity? Why?
3) What did you dislike? Why?
4) Pretend that you are a student changing schools. Convince your new teacher about why is is so important to complete the of Code. Why is it so important that we learn Code?
